On 29 August 2025, H.E. Ambassador Shi Zhongjun, Secretary General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), met with H.E. Loke Siew Fook, Minister of Transport of Malaysia, in Putrajaya.
Both sides spoke highly of the high-level development of Malaysia-China and ASEAN-China relations and shared the view that practical cooperation between Malaysia and China holds tremendous potential and broad prospects across various fields. They agreed to fully leverage the mutual visa exemption policy between Malaysia and China to further stimulate new momentum for Malaysia-China and ASEAN-China cooperation. By further enhancing regional connectivity, the “hard connectivity” represented by railway and aviation networks will help advance the “soft connectivity” of people-to-people bonds, enabling the Belt and Road Initiative to achieve more practical outcomes in Southeast Asia and benefit the people of the region.
Previously, in Kuala Lumpur, SG Shi held a brief meeting with H.E. Dato’ Seri Utama Mohamad Hasan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, exchanging views on advancing practical cooperation between ASEAN and China.
