Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) recently sat down for an exclusive interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN), offering insights on ASEAN-China cooperation and future prospects.
Shi Zhongjun noted that despite recent international and regional uncertainties, ASEAN and China have set a successful example of seeking win-win results and integrated development through mutually beneficial cooperation. The China-ASEAN FTA 3.0 is a transformational leap for regional and global trade, with new focus on digital economy, green economy and supply chain connectivity. He emphasized the importance of aligning the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with ASEAN Community Vision 2025 through balanced approach that combines “hard connectivity” in infrastructure and trade with “soft connectivity” through cultural and people-to-people exchanges to maximize regional integration and shared prosperity. Regarding the current ASEAN-China-GCC Summit, Shi Zhongjun elaborated that the trilateral collaboration will reinforce multilateralism to leverage the strengths of each party, driving the ASEAN-China cooperation towards a more robust and dynamic direction.
