On 11 - 18 September 2025, Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the 22nd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) and China-ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (CABIS) in Nanning, Guangxi. He also attended and addressed the China-ASEAN Business Leaders Forum, as well as ASEAN-China AI-Enabled Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Industry Investment Development Conference, ASEAN-China Advanced Industrial Cooperation and Development Exchange Conference, and RCEP Trade Facilitation Industrial Cooperation Exchange Meeting, which are co-hosted and supported by the ACC.
On the aforesaid occasions, Shi Zhongjun stressed the ACC’s role in carrying out the consensus among ASEAN and Chinese leaders and promoting economic cooperation, trade and people-to-people exchanges. He noted that ASEAN and China are friendly neighbors and close partners who have always supported each other. Both sides are advancing together toward modernization, composing a symphony of shared prosperity. With the substantive conclusion of the negotiations on the ASEAN-China Free Trade Area 3.0, both sides’ economic vitality will be further stimulated and more cooperation achievements will be created in emerging fields such as the digital economy, clean energy and modern agriculture. He called on business communities of ASEAN and China to join hands to ride the wave of scientific revolution, enhance innovation capabilities, enrich industrial cooperation, build resilient and efficient supply and industrial chains, promote common prosperity among regional countries, so as to continuously inject impetus into the in-depth development of ASEAN-China partnership.
During his stay in Guangxi, Secretary General Shi visited Fangchenggang and Chongzuo to have an in-depth understanding on the cross-border trade cooperation between ASEAN and China. He also met with the leadership of Fangchenggang and Chongzuo separately, exchanging views on the city's geographical and industrial advantages for promoting cooperation with ASEAN and advancing economic and development goals across many sectors, especially artificial intelligence, e-commerce, healthcare and modern agriculture.
Over the years, the ACC has been actively participating in various events of CAEXPO and CABIS, and spared no efforts in serving as a bridge for business exchanges and consolidating multi-faceted practical cooperation between both sides.
