From July 24 to 27, 2025, the 2025 China-ASEAN Education Cooperation Week (CAECW), jointly organized by Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Ministry of Education of China, and Guizhou Provincial Government, and supported by the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) and Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO), was inaugurated in Guiyang City, Guizhou Province. The ACC organized eight diplomatic officials in charge of education from Embassies of ASEAN Members States in Beijing to attend the opening ceremony and a series of events at the 2025 CAECW, to catalyze intellectual synergy and strengthen institutional partnerships, thereby deepening ASEAN-China educational collaboration and advancing people-to-people connectivity across the region.
Under the theme "Smart Education Empowering People-to-People Exchanges, Educational Cooperation Enhancing Common Development", this year's CAECW was focused on key areas including people-to-people exchanges, digital transformation in education, industry-academia integration, sustainable development, and youth empowerment. A series of thematic forums, cultural interactions, seminars and symposiums were held to expand multidimensional and in-depth collaboration between China and ASEAN countries in education, science and technology, supporting high-quality socioeconomic development in the region.
During the event, Director Hadi Tjahjono and Deputy Director Liu Xiao of Education, Culture and Tourism Division of the ACC, Yudil Chatim, Education and Cultural Attache of Embassy of Indonesia, Soudthida Hoongsengpha, Counselor of Embassy of the Lao PDR, Mohd Azlan Bin Abu Bakar, Counselor of the Embassy of Malaysia, Hoang Mai Dien, First Secretary of the Embassy of Viet Nam, Maria May-I Lactao Fabros, Second Secretary and Consul of the Embassy of the Philippines, addressed the 2025 China-ASEAN TVET Consortium Annual Conference, China-ASEAN Seminar on Teacher Exchanges and Cooperation & CAECW-SEAMEO-ACC Master Class for Science Teachers, Forum on Jointly Building a New Ecosystem for China-ASEAN Vocational Education Development: Innovative Integration and Digital Empowerment, and ASEAN-China Symposium on Built Environment Renewal and Smart Energy Development. They also engaged in in-depth communications and discussions with attending parties on advancing cooperation in relevant fields.
