On 25 May, the World Tourism Alliance·Dongting Dialogue was successfully held in Yueyang City, Hunan Province. This high-level Dialogue was jointly organized by the World Tourism Alliance (WTA), the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, and the Yueyang Municipal People’s Government. It centered on sustainable tourism development under the theme “Promoting Integrated Cultural and Tourism Development and Sharing a Green and Prosperous Future.” The Dialogue brought together around 200 prominent stakeholders including representatives from the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA), the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC), and the Finance Center for South-South Cooperation, fostering meaningful exchanges on green tourism initiatives.
Hadi Tjahjono, Director of the Education, Culture and Tourism Division of the ACC, delivered insightful remarks at the Round-table Talk, emphasizing the importance of ASEAN-China collaboration in sustainable tourism practices. His address highlighted the ACC’s commitment to eco-friendly tourism development and cultural preservation in the regions of China and ASEAN Member States.
As an integral part of the 4th Hunan Tourism Development Conference, the Dialogue advanced concrete pathways for ASEAN and China to jointly cultivate sustainable tourism ecosystems, aligning with global sustainability goals.
