On 19 January 2025, H.E. Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) respectively met with H.E. Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, Minister of Tourism of Indonesia, H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism of Cambodia and H.E. YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Malaysia in Johor, Malaysia on the sidelines of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2025.
SG Shi introduced the ACC’s commitments and highlighted the ACC’s efforts in promoting China-ASEAN tourism cooperation through bilateral tourism collaboration and exchanges between China and Indonesia, Cambodia and Malaysia. He elaborated on the ACC's tourism activities in 2024 and upcoming projects in 2025 under the framework of the "ASEAN-China Year of People-to-people Exchanges" and expressed the ACC’s readiness to support and cooperate with Indonesia, Cambodia and Malaysia for future tourism development between China and ASEAN.
Indonesian Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana stated that Indonesia highly values tourism cooperation with China. Indonesia has paid great efforts to promote its tourism resources and there is great potential of bilateral visitation increase between China and Indonesia. The Minister echoed future collaboration with the ACC in such featured areas as coordinated international destination marketing and capacity building.
Cambodian Tourism Minister Huot Hak emphasized the importance of strong cooperative relations between China and Cambodia, which has achieved fruitful outcomes. The Minister expressed strong willingness to strengthen solid collaboration with the ACC through campaigns and flagship projects.
Malaysian Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing spoke highly of the tourism cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between China and Malaysia. The Minister appreciated the ACC’s great efforts in supporting the China-Malaysia tourism collaboration and would like to further promote the bilateral relations with the ACC ahead.
