Recently, H.E. Mr. Shi Zhongjun, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), respectively met with H.E. Raja Nushirwan Bin Zainal Abidin, Ambassador of Malaysia to China, H.E. Mr. Djauhari Oratmangun, Ambassador of Indonesia to China and H. E. Mr. U Tin Maung Swe, Ambassador of Myanmar to China.

Secretary-General Shi Zhongjun briefed the ambassadors on the ACC’s work plan in 2023 and stressed that ACC will continue to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of ASEAN and China, and promote mutually beneficial cooperation between ASEAN and China in all areas, so as to make more contributions to the sustained development of the ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership.

Ambassador Raja Nushirwan said that Malaysia and China are good neighbours sharing time-honored friendship and close partnership of achieving mutual benefit through win-win cooperation. Malaysia applauds China’s recent optimization and adjustment of COVID-19 response measures, and welcomes more Chinese citizens visiting Malaysia for tourism and family visits. The Malaysian Embassy looks forward to working with ACC to actively promote activities in the fields of tourism and cultural exchanges, and inject fresh impetus into the post-epidemic economic recovery and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

Ambassador Djauhari Oratmangun noted that Indonesia-China relations have been enjoying a high-level development in recent years. In July 2022, H.E. President Joko Widodo of Indonesia paid a successful visit to China and held talks with President Xi Jinping. In November 2022, President Xi Jinping attended the 17th G20 Summit held in Indonesia and met with President Joko Widodo again. The two leaders reached a number of important consensus on high-quality promotion of Indonesia-China comprehensive strategic partnership and jointly building an Indonesia-China community with a shared future. As the ASEAN rotating chair in 2023, Indonesia stands ready to keep close cooperation with ACC to implement the consensus reached by both leaders, and to elevate ASEAN-China cooperation to a new high.

Ambassador U Tin Maung Swe said that Myanmar and China have enjoyed deep “pauk-phaw” friendship. Myanmar has always regarded China as a trustworthy and reliable good friend. In recent years, Myanmar-China bilateral relations and cooperation have developed steadily with remarkable achievements. As the country coordinator of ASEAN-China relations, Myanmar stands ready to constantly expand cooperation with China and ASEAN Member States in the areas of trade, investment, and technology in the post-epidemic era, so as to better share the potential dividends from the establishment of version 3.0 of ASEAN-China Free Trade Area and implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (RCEP).
