On 12 October 2025, Secretary General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with H.E Bo Bo Kyaw, Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation of Myanmar in Zhengzhou of Henan Province, on the sidelines of the latter’s attendance to 2025 ASEAN-China (Henan) Cooperation and Development Conference on Food and Agriculture co-hosted by the ACC and the Henan Provincial Government.

Shi Zhongjun welcomed Deputy Minister Bo Bo Kyaw to the Conference, noting that agriculture stands as a pillar industry of Myanmar and a cornerstone of bilateral cooperation with China. He reaffirmed the commitments of ACC, as the only intergovernmental organization established by China and ten ASEAN Member States, to translate the leaders’ consensus into tangible outcomes and fostering practical cooperation across all sectors, including agriculture, for win-win outcomes and shared prosperity. The Conference is a premier platform co-established by the ACC and the Henan Provincial Government. Leveraging on Henan’s strengths in agriculture and large population, the Conference helps match the resources of Chinese localities with demands of ASEAN countries, including Myanmar, creating new avenues for cooperation. He expressed hope that Myanmar could seize the opportunities presented by the Conference to engage deeply with Henan and other participating parties to actively explore new opportunities for collaboration. The ACC remains dedicated to supporting Myanmar’s efforts to bring more agricultural products to the Chinese market, advance its agricultural modernization, and boost its economic development and public welfare.

Deputy Minister Bo Bo Kyaw expressed his appreciation for the invitation and commended the significant role the Conference plays in strengthening agricultural ties between Myanmar and China. He highlighted the priority status of agriculture and livestock in Myanmar’s national development strategy, underscoring the critical importance of seeding, irrigation, and agricultural science and technology. He expresses the hope of Myanmar to strengthen cooperation with China in areas such as seed selection and breeding, irrigation, advanced agricultural machinery, and crop yield improvement, to help accelerate its agricultural modernization. He extended a welcome to Chinese enterprises to invest in Myanmar and participate across the entire agricultural value chain, pledging the active support of the Ministry in providing facilitation regarding land and investment policies. Thanking the ACC for its sustained support, he conveyed expectation for continued close coordination with the ACC to promote more high-quality Myanmar agricultural products in China. He also proposed exploring partnerships in vocational training and academic programs to cultivate more agricultural talents for Myanmar, thereby driving sustainable agricultural development for the mutual benefit of both nations.
