On 26 June 2025, Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN China Centre (ACC), leading a delegation of agricultural related institutes and enterprises from China to Thailand, met with Chinese Consul General Chen Haiping in Chiang Mai.
Shi Zhongjun introduced the interactions between the delegation and Chiang Mai governmental authorities as well as Chiang Mai University. He emphasized the significance of agriculture to the livelihoods and social stability of both China and ASEAN countries, highlighting the vast potential for future cooperation between the two sides.
Chen Haiping briefed the delegation on the pragmatic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between Chiang Mai Province and China. This year celebrates the 50th anniversary of China-Thailand diplomatic ties and the 2025 China-ASEAN Year of People-to-people Exchanges, both sides agreed to further leverage the technological and market strengths of China, to implement more practical cooperation projects which are tailored to the specific needs of Northern Thailand especially the Chiang Mai Province, in fields such as agriculture, tourism, education, and trade investment, so as to bring tangible benefits to the local livelihoods.
