On May 31 2025, the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) successfully held the “ASEAN-China Children’s Day 2025: Shared Joy, Shared Future” in Senhuan World, Beijing. The Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ACC, the Deputy Chief of Mission Norfarina Mohd Azmee of the Malaysian Embassy in China, representatives of AMS Embassies, 50 children from ASEAN countries and China, along with their parents, around 120 people in total,participated in the event.

At the opening ceremony, Shi Zhongjun noted that it is a great delight to invite all to celebrate the International Children’s Day on the Chinese traditional Dragon Boat Festival together once again. Against the backdrop of 2025 ASEAN-China Year of People-to-people Exchanges, the“ASEAN-China Children’s Day was held for the second time, with a new theme “Shared Joy, Shared Future.” This event aims to help our children to learn more about each other, to develop a stronger connection to each other’s cultures and to sow the seeds of friendship and understanding among the younger generations of both sides. He also expressed the hope that through today’s vibrant and diverse activities, may everyone embrace and share the joy of childhood together and join hands in building a brighter shared future for ASEAN-China relations.

Norfarina Mohd Azmee expressed her gratitude on behalf of AMS Embassies for ACC’s continuous efforts on organizing such wonderful events for children. She noted that as highlight of the Event, the ASEAN-China Children’s Talent show would showcase not only their talents but also the unity, friendship and diversity that define ASEAN-China relations and people-to-people exchanges. She stressed that children are our greatest treasures of the future and she wished today’s celebration inspire continued collaboration and dedication to the well-being of our children.

Afterwards, two kid representatives, namely Mahatma Nararya from Indonesia and Hu Zhixuan from China delivered remarks on behalf of ASEAN kids and China kids respectively, sharing their excitement and expectations for attending the ASEAN-China Children’s Day 2025 event.

In the cultural display section, children from ASEAN and China took turns presenting wonderful cultural performances: the Filipino children started the section with the traditional dance “Dance under the Lights”, fully showcasing the unique charm of Southeast Asia. The Thai child presented the violin solo “Ode to Joy”. The Malaysian children brought a characteristic song with ethnic customs, “Rashatha Yanai”. Later on, the “Financial Street Children’s Chorus” from China performed the traditional Chinese folks song “Malan Rhyme” with crystal voices and the cultural display session ended up with the group dance “Share Every Moment” from the Vietnamese children, which once again ignited the enthusiasm of the entire audience.

After the cultural display, the children and their parents were invited to create a “Happy Childhood Scroll” together, and later they participated in the amusement competition with a follow-up cultural experience project “tie-dyeing”. In the end, the event came to a successful conclusion in a warm and harmonious atmosphere filled by laughter and joy, as the children explored each other’s traditions, made new friends, and celebrated the spirit of unity.
