On 8 March 2024, Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) led the Chinese business delegation to Long Giang Industrial Park in Tien Giang Province of Vietnam for a field study, where the delegation visited some China-funded enterprises, understood the Park’s infrastructure conditions, and was presented with a briefing on the development, operation and investment in the Park.

On the same day, the ACC held a business workshop in Ho Chi Minh City. Secretary General Shi invited Consul General Wei Huaxiang of China in Ho Chi Minh City to join the discussions with the Chinese business delegation. Persons-in-charge of the China Business Association Ho Chi Minh City Branch (CBAH) and other representatives from the CBAH members also attended the workshop.
Secretary General Shi noted that, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of both Vietnam and China, both countries have enjoyed growing political trust and fruitful  practical cooperation. With its unique advantages in business-related sectors, Vietnam has managed to accommodate China’s industrial transfer and form close production and supply links with China’s upstream market. The full implementation of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) and the progressing negotiations on the version 3.0 of ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) will also definitely bring about more cooperation potentials, so as to achieve deeper integration of trade and investment between ASEAN and China as well as between Vietnam and China. It is expected that more China-funded enterprises could seize the opportunities and take active actions to better explore the ASEAN market and establish China’s industrial layout on a global scale. 

Consul General Wei briefed the visiting delegation on the operation and development of the Chinese enterprises based in the southern region of Vietnam, and expressed optimism on securing broad prospects of economic cooperation and trade between Vietnam and China. He further offered recommendations on promoting practical cooperation between the two sides and providing facilitation and support to the China-funded enterprises going for business in Vietnam. The persons-in-charge of CBAH and its member representatives from such business sectors as financing, textile, electronics manufacturing, agricultural and food processing, shared their experience of doing business in Vietnam and expressed their willingness to help more Chinese enterprises come to Vietnam to tap cooperation opportunities and establish businesses.
