On 21 November 2022, on the occasion of the first anniversary of the establishment of the ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, H.E. Mr. Shi Zhongjun, Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), published an article in the China Daily newspaper, entitled “Bright Prospect ahead for ASEAN, China”.
In the article, Secretary-General Shi Zhongjun pointed out that since the establishment of dialogue relations between ASEAN and China more than 30 years ago, the two sides have developed all-round, multi-level and wide-ranging cooperation in political areas, trade and investment, and people-to-people exchanges. The ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership has got off to a good start, and ASEAN-China relations have entered the “fast lane”.
Secretary-General Shi Zhongjun stressed that ASEAN and China should implement the consensus reached at the 25th ASEAN-China Summit, make good use of the opportunities brought by the implementation of RCEP and the ASEAN-China Free Trade Agreement 3.0, and further strengthen cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, industry and supply chains, agricultural and food security and people-to-people exchanges, to promote the development and prosperity of the region.
Secretary-General Shi Zhongjun noted that ACC, as an international organisation jointly established by the leaders of ASEAN Member States and China, has played an active role in promoting cooperation between the two sides over the past 11 years, which is recognised by the leaders of both sides. In future, ACC will further implement the leaders’ consensus, promote practical cooperation in various fields and make new contribution to the development of the ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership.
