On 14 June 2019, Secretary-General Chen Dehai of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) was invited to attend the opening ceremony of ASEAN Week 2019 hosted by ASEAN-Korea Centre (AKC) in Seoul, the ROK. First Lady Kim Jung-Sook of the ROK sent a video message congratulating the successful opening of the ASEAN Week. The opening ceremony was attended by Mayor Park Won-soon of Seoul, Secretary-General Lee Hyuk of AKC, Secretary-General Masataka Fujita of ASEAN-Japan Centre (AJC), diplomatic envoys of ASEAN Member States in the ROK as well as representatives of the ROK government, business community, media and academia. Artists from ASEAN countries and the ROK presented wonderful performances.
During his stay in Seoul, Secretary-General Chen Dehai met with Chinese Ambassador to the ROK Mr. Qiu Guohong, and visited AKC along with Secretary-General Masataka Fujita of AJC to exchange views on cooperation between the three centres.
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the ASEAN-ROK Dialogue Relations and 10th anniversary of the establishment of the ASEAN-Korea Centre, the ASEAN Week 2019 was held from 14 to 16 June in Seoul, including special events such as the ASEAN Music Festival, ASEAN Fashion Festival, ASEAN Travel Talk, the ASEAN design and lifestyle product exhibition (ASEAN Design Pavilion) as well as the Tourism Promotion Booths of all 10 ASEAN countries.
