From 27 to 28 November 2018, representatives of the 8th Joint Council (JC) Meeting of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) paid field visits in Chongqing. The delegation visited China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity Administrative Bureau, Chongqing Liangjiang Digital Economy Industrial Park, Zhubajie Co. Ltd., Haifu Medical Technology Co. Ltd., Chongqing Planning and Exhibition Gallery as well as Dazu Rock Carvings. Mr. Tang Wen, Vice Director-General of Chongqing Foreign Affairs Office, accompanied the delegation.
The China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity is based on the theme of “modern connectivity and modern services economy” with a focus on financial services, aerospace industry, transportation and logistics, as well as information and communications technology. The initiative is aimed at building a “New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor” of high starting point, high quality and innovation, which could become an important bridge to promote the ASEAN-China cooperation.
Chongqing Liangjiang Digital Economy Industrial Park was founded in 2010, which owns 10 national-level innovation bases. Focusing on emerging technology industry and integration of enterprises, capital, talents and information, it aims to enhance digital technology innovation capability and expand application and service area, so as to build itself into a national demonstration zone of digital economy and demonstration base for the development of big data and artificial intelligence.
Zhubajie.com is the earliest platform for sharing economy on professional skills in China. Haifu Medical Technology Co. Ltd., focuses on basic research, equipment manufacturing, clinical treatment of focused ultrasound surgery with world-class technology in relevant areas. It has set up focused ultrasound surgery centers in more than 20 countries or regions.
The delegation listened carefully to the briefing, and exchanged views on expanding cooperation with relevant parties. They thanked the ACC Secretariat for the arrangements of the colourful activities. They said that Chongqing is a beautiful city full of charm and dynamism. By visiting ASEAN-China cooperation project, university, industrial park, enterprises and cultural heritage, the delegation learnt more about the economic and social development of Chongqing and would actively support ASEAN countries in expanding win-win cooperation with Chongqing in a joint effort to elevate the ASEAN-China strategic partnership to a new height.
