ACC Secretary-General Visited Hutchison Laemchabang Port Project in Thailand

On 15 March 2018, H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping, Secretary-General of ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), visited Hutchison Laemchabang Port Project constructed by China Harbor Engineering (CHEC) Thai Co., Ltd and exchanged views with the management team. Mr. Zhang Xuehai, Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations Division of ACC, accompanied the visit.

Mr. Shuai Lihua, Managing Director of CHEC Thai, Ms. Lan Qiuli, Assistant Managing Director, Mr. Xiong Fenghua, Project Manager, Mr. Zhang Changsheng, Executive Deputy Project Manager, Mr. Sun Qiang, Deputy Project Manager and Mr. Zou Wei, Chief Engineer of the project, briefed on the project. Hutchison Terminal D1, D2, D3 of Laemchabang Port project is located in Chon Buri province of eastern Thailand, which includes a 1000-meter, 100,000-ton quay and 28.5-hectare container yard. Commenced on 16 September 2016, the project is progressing steadily and might be completed ahead of schedule. This is the first automatic quay constructed by CHEC overseas, which is also Thailand’s first automatic quay. It will greatly increase the throughput of the Laemchabang Port and contribute to the economic port zone upon completion. CHEC Thai would continue to pursue high quality and safe operation, strive to make the project a model project and contribute to Thailand-China and ASEAN-China practical cooperation. CHEC Thai hoped to get ACC’s continued support and assistance.

Secretary-General Yang Xiuping spoke highly of the outstanding contribution made by CHEC to advance Thailand-China and ASEAN-China infrastructure cooperation as well as the smooth progress of the project. She briefed on ASEAN-China relations and ACC’s major work and said that this year marks the 15th anniversary of ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership and the ASEAN-China Year of Innovation. ASEAN-China practical cooperation is embracing new opportunities. ACC would continue to serve as a one-stop information and activities centre, create more cooperation platforms and actively play a bridging role to facilitate business matching between enterprises from both sides including CHEC. She hoped that while steadily advancing the project, CHEC Thai could continue to abide by the local laws and customs, fulfill its social responsibility and set a good example of Chinese enterprises so as to make more contributions to Thailand-China and ASEAN-China cooperation.
