On 26 August 2015, ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) Secretary-General H.E. Mme. Yang Xiuping met with Chairman of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) Mr. Suryo Bambang Sulisto, in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Secretary-General Yang Xiuping expressed that China and Indonesia were both big developing countries. The two countries were geographically close with economies complimentary to each other, and vast potentials for enhanced cooperation. The steady deepening of economic cooperation, the industrial and business circles of the two sides had maintained closerelationship and partnership. Since its establishment, ACC had cooperated with the KADIN and jointly promoted trade and investment cooperation between China and Indonesia. By the end of this year, the ASEAN Community will be fully established, the negotiations on the upgrading of ASEAN-China Free Trade Area (CAFTA) and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) were expected to be concluded. ACC and the KADIN should seize the opportunities to strengthen their cooperation, in efforts to elevate the economic relations between ASEAN and China as well as China-Indonesia relations to a new height.

Mr. Suryo was pleased to note the good relationship between ACC and the KADIN, especially the good working ties between ACC and the KADIN China Committee. He appreciated the joint efforts made by the two sides in promoting cooperation in the areas of trade and investment. In recent years, China and Indonesia had strengthened their economic ties. More Chinese enterprises were investing in Indonesia, hence economically speaking the two countries were becoming more dependent with each other. He hoped ACC could do more to disseminate the relevant information to benefit the investors and entrepreneurs from both sides.

Secretary-General Yang Xiuping also met with the representatives of China’s state-owned and private enterprises residing in Indonesia, discussed about the investment opportunities, and exchanged views on the future development of Chinese enterprises in Indonesia and other ASEAN countries.
