On 7 March 2013, ASEAN-China Centre organized a tour for Ambassadors of ASEAN Commitee in Beijing (ACB) to China Academy of Space Technology (CAST). The Chief Engineer Mr. Su Weigang held a meeting with Secretary-General Ma Mingqiang and Ambassadors and gave an introduction of technology power and international cooperation of CAST. Secretary-General Ma and Ambassadors visited CAST exhibition hall and its satellite assembly and test centre.
Secretary-General Ma said that as the only international inter-governmental organization between ASEAN and China, ACC made consistent efforts to push forward various cooperations for the two sides. ACC would like to organized such activities in the future for the promotion of bilateral cooperation in space technical application.
On behalf of ACB, the rotating chair and Lao Ambassador, Mr. Somdy Bounkhoun expressed the gratitude for ACC organizing this tour and CAST's hospitality for the guests. He said that ASEAN and China have carried out all-round cooperation and made many achievements since they established strategic relations. ACB will take this meaningful activity as an opportunity to further promote ASEAN-China cooperation in space technology.
The two sides also exchanged views on the issues of future cooperation such as personnel training, information sharing and technical application, etc.
